As soon as Ellie said that, Sam's cheeks felt hot, but he looked down and grinned. Before he could really say anything, she just shook it off and went into the living room. He didn't really know exactly what he wanted to say, but he did in fact like her. He went into the living room and sat on the couch next to Ellie & Charlie. He watched the movie, but couldn't really focus. Is it that weird to like your sisters best friend? He pulled out his phone and decided to text Ellie. I think we need to talk....later..

Ellie felt the vibration of her phone buzzing in her jacket pocket. She had just noticed Sam from across the room get out and send a message. Could this be the one she just received?. She leaned over to the coffee table and as guessed, it was from Sam.
No need.
The beep of Sam's message tone made Charlie's eyes shift between the two. Had she worked out they were messaging each other? It was kind of obvious and it seemed a bit too coincidental for it not to be that. "I'm gonna go make some popcorn." Charlie said pausing the movie before running off to the kitchen. Of course. "She's so not obvious." Ellie mumbled. She looked over at Sam, someone who she usually felt at ease with and sighed. "I'm sorry. I made this awkward by even mentioning it. I shouldn't have. You can save your time doing the whole awkward spill about how I'm nice but just not your type so that I don't get offended about you not liking me and having all these 'I'm not good enough' thoughts and all that.." She was being to ramble. "It's fine. Let's just pretend I said nothing, okay?"

Sam got up from the couch and sat next to Ellie. "Wait-why would you ever think you're not good enough?" he asked her, and took a deep breathe. He just had to say it. Three words. I. like. you. Is it that hard. He looked up at her, "Charlie's right." he let out, unsure if she'd feel the same.

She looked him in the eyes. Was he being serious? Had Charlie really been right?. At that moment, a thousand thoughts were running through her head. She bonded with him so much over the last few months and he knew worst parts about her and still thought she was okay to be around. Ellie bit her lip and looked down. But how did she feel about him?. Things hadn't gotten so hazy since Alex had left but she couldn't be sure if what she now felt for Sam was real feelings or if it was just a replacement for absence her heart felt. "If you're being serious.. do you wanna maybe.. go on a date sometime?" She asked him, shyly, "To see where things go..". She could barely look at him. "I shouldn't do this to Charlie though.. it's like against the rules.."

Sam smiled. "I'd love that." "..I really don't think Charlie would mind, I mean it might be weird, but why not give it a shot?" he asked. "I really like you, and I wanted to keep it to myself-because I knew Alex hurt you and you'd be hesitant- but I guess Charlie just noticed it... " he laughed a bit.

She hoped that Sam was right and Charlie wouldn't be too weirded out by the idea of her best friend going on a date with her brother. Ellie smiled over at him and then Charlie re entered the room. "Got the popcorn!" She said placing it down in the coffee table that was centered of the seating area. Charlie put the movie back on and Ellie got out her phone to text Charlie.
Don't hate me but I think I might be going on a date with your brother... ah, too weird?
She pressed send and looked over to her waiting for her reaction.

Charlie opened the text message, and was so shocked. In a good way. She had a feeling Sam liked her, but she never thought he'd go for it. I mean, sure a little weird. But go for it. I kinda think you guys would be cute. she sent the message and watched the movie.

She smiled at the text happy to see that Charlie was happy for them. They sat there for the next hour until the movie finished. "Hey, do you mind if I spend the night? I hate to ask but I just don't feel in the mood to go home to an empty house.." She asked them both.

"Ellie, you don't even have to ask." she smiled. "Of course! Sam can you go upstairs and grab some blankets?" she asked, so Sam could leave the room. "So where are you guys going for your date?" she asked Ellie, eagerly.

Ellie shrugged a little bit. "No official plans have been made yet. We just know we're gonna go on a date.". She sighed, "Are you sure you're okay with it? You can say you aren't if you're not.."

"I'm honestly, surprisingly, okay." she smiled. "I know how much you've been through, and I think it's about time you're happy." she explained. "I'm just happy you're moving on." she told her best friend.

Ellie wrapped her arms around Charlie in a hug. "Thank you so much for being supportive but if you ever feel weird, tell me and I'll back off before I fall too deeply.". She bit her lip. Had she just admitted out loud that she really did have feelings for Sam?.
Moments later Sam came back down the stairs with some blankets and pillows. "We'll all sleep out down here with you. It'll be like a camping out." Sam grinned. Ellie laughed, "You don't have to do that!" and she knew that meant all three of them would stay up talking and giggling through the night. Sam and Charlie insisted to stay downstairs with her and eventually Ellie gave in. Laughing as they did it, with the blankets they built a fort to close them in.

"Are you kidding? Charlie & I used to do this when we were little. I miss this!" He told her, and started setting down the blankets. Sam looked over at Charlie and she was smiling and laughing, which also made him smile. He hadn't seen her so herself in months. They had already watched a movie , but Sam wasn't tired at all. "Anyone up for video games?" He asked and went grabbed the controllers from the shelf.

"Are you sure you want to take on the pros?" Ellie said laughing, referring to herself and Charlie. Sam laughed with them and gave them both a controller. "What game are we playing?" Ellie asked Sam as he went to place one into the console.

"Mario Kart." he grinned. "And trust me, I've seen Charlie play this game...she's pretty bad." he chuckled, as charlie yelled "HEY" obviously taking offense. "How about we make this interesting. We'll play 1 game, and whoever loses that sits out. The second place winner has to buy ice-cream. Deal?" he smirked knowing he'd beat the two of them, and get a free ice-cream out of it too.
