It was a beautiful day. Literally. There was not a cloud in sight, and Charlie was sick of being cooped up in her grandparents home. It was pretty small, compared to all of the huge houses in this particular town, and she wanted out more than anything. It's not that she didn't appreciate her grandparents letting her in, but it was the fact that she was forced to stay with them. She had to leave her little brother back home, and she missed him more than anything. Her mother took her cellphone away too, so the only form of communicating was through a letter. She didn't mind that, even if it was old-fashioned. She started writing, and in half an hour finished it. She saw a mailbox, and headed to insert the letter. As she was walking she tripped on a tree branch, and the letter went flying out of her hands. Unfortunately, it was a windy day, so the letter kept moving. She chased it up until she ran into someone. Charlie brought her hand to her head in pain. "Ow!" She exclaimed. She was too hurt to be embarrassed about the incident. [/blockquote]

Ellie had been looking in the completely opposite direction when she felt someone ram into her, knocking her balance but not enough to make her fall. She turned to see a girl holding her hand to her head. "Are you alright?". She noticed the letter that was being held in her opposite hand. She figured she must have been chasing after it, since it was a windy day.

Charlie kept rubbing her head trying to ease the pain. "Yeah, I'm okay." She said. "I am so sorry, this letters really important." She explained to the girl she basically tackled. "Are you okay?" She asked. [/blockquote]

"It's fine. Don't even worry about it.". The girl asked if I was okay, I laughed it off, "Completely." Ellie smiled. "If you don't mind me asking, are you new around here? I don't think I've seen you around before.. and I know most people in this area." .

"Okay good!" Charlie laughed a little as well. "Yeah, I'm brand new here." Charlie said. "I moved here Earlier this week. But I've been getting that a lot." She laughed. "Must be a pretty small town!" She explained.

Ellie laughed, "Oh yeah it is. Everyone knows everyone around here. In a way, it can be a lot to handle. Having everyone know your business but hey, I'm sure you'll like it here." Ellie's eyes flicked to the letter, "So who's the letter for? If you don't mind me prying."

"Well so far, everyone I've met seems pretty friendly. So, I'm sure I will." Charlie smiled. Then the girl asked about the letter. She already mentioned that everyone knows everyone's business in a small town like this, and Charlie especially didn't want anyone to know about her's. "It's a letter to..my best guy friend back home. I miss him like crazy." Charlie lied. If she said it was to her brother, she would ask why he's not here with her, and why She's here alone and that's a mess that Charlie rather not get into. Especially with a total stranger.

"Aw, that's such a shame when you have to leave such a familiar place. Leaving behind all those friends.. the worst. I'm sure he appreciates that you're taking the time to write him a letter.". Ellie found it odd how she wrote a letter. Not many people still took the time to post letters. It was all emails and texts now. She thought about asking, but figured that she better not pry even more in her life. "I'm Ellie by the way.".

"Yeah it is a shame. I just really want to be back there with him." Charlie said. "Life is just different without him." even though Ellie thought she was talking about a friend, everything Charlie was saying about her brother was true. I smiled. "Nice to meet you, Ellie." I grinned. "I'm Charlie, and I like your name. Is it short for something?"

Charlie was one of the first girls to ask her if Ellie was short for anything. "Elisa's my real name, but everyone just knows me as Ellie." She smiled, "What about your name?".

"Oh I love that." Charlie grinned. "It's so pretty!" "My real name is Charlotte, but I have hated that since I was little. So I've pretty much gone by Charlie my whole life." She grinned.

"Oh yeah, I hate my real name too. That's why I go by Ellie." She smiled, "Why do you hate Charlotte? It's so nice."

"It just sounds too delicate, too fancy I guess." Charlie laughed a bit. "Does that make any sense?" She asked. "What about you? How come you don't like your name?"

That made sense to Ellie. She found Charlotte too fancy, so that's why she went for Charlie. "Oh, um, it's the same name as my mom and she walked out on my family when I was little so I just don't want any connection with her.". Ellie didn't mind telling Charlie, a complete stranger that. Most people around here already knew that.

Charlie felt horrible once Ellie explained her nickname. "Oh, I'm so sorry." She told her. "Well, I know we just met, but I think Ellie fits you better anyways." She smiled, trying to make their conversation a little lighter. [/blockquote]
