For weeks now Abby, Ellie's sister, had been begging Ellie to take her to the movies. Apparently there was this new movie out with some attractive guy in it and she was dying to see it with me or something. Ellie hadn't payed much attention to the details of Abby's obsessing. Eventually, Ellie gave in and drove herself and her sister to the movie theatre.
"You go and get the tickets, and I'll go get us some popcorn and soda, okay?" Ellie said as they walked through the doors into the foyer. Abby nodded and off she went, heading towards the ticket booth to line up. Once Ellie saw that Abby was in line, she made her way over to the candy bar to buy her snacks. As she was walking, she pulled out her phone to check her messages. She was so concentrated on replying to a text that she completely ran into the guy at the end of the line, causing her to drop her phone. "Crap." She mumbled as she knelt done to pick it up. No scratches. Phew. Ellie stood back up and looked at the person she had ran into, hoping to apologise when she realised it was Sean. Awkward times a thousand. "Oh, um, I'm sorry..". Ellie and Sean had not spoken since the night that Ellie got drunk and kissed Jersey. He had been pissed off at her, and not spoken to her since.

Sean wasn't having the time of his life in this town, and the people were making him dislike it a little more. Ellie was the first person he met, and he assumed everyone would be like her. He loved her attitude in the town, and it made it seem nice. Then he met Charlie, who was very similar to Ellie. But then there was the princess at the bar, who made him change his mind. When Sean went to Ellie's for the movie night, everything just seemed wrong. Maybe this wasn't the town for him.
He decided to take a break and see a movie, even though he was alone. It would take two hours out of his boring day, and make him concentrate on something other than the people in the town. He stood on the end of the line for the concessions, minding his own business, and someone ran into him from the back. At first, he thought it was an obnoxious teenager, but when he turned around, he saw it was Ellie. He looked at her, not speaking, and didn't know how to feel. She apologized, but his throat was dry. "It's okay." He simply stated. You could feel the tension in the air, it was extremely awkward. Sean didn't want to be mad at Ellie, but the way she acted wasn't somethign he was used to.

Ellie nodded and stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to say. She wanted to speak to him about.. something but she wasn't sure what to say. He hadn't been speaking to her and it looked like it was.. uncomfortable to even just say 'it's okay' to her. Sean must have been disgusted with her. Ugh. "So, uh, come with here with someone?" She blurted out. An failure of an attempt to break the awkwardness. Her gut then ached thinking he'd come with a girl.

Sean shook his head quickly, and folded his arms. "What about you?" He asked, thinking she was most likely here with the guy she kissed.

Phew. "Just my sister." She said with a slight smile, "She's off buying tickets.". He nodded to what she was saying, and then she bite her lip. More awkward silence. That was all that was really said until her sister got into the line with us. She was chattering away while Ellie just stood there listening, not saying much. The awkward tension between Sean and Ellie was still increasingly high.. even with the silence filled.
Once they had all their snacks, the two girls walked into the movie theatre. Of course.. Sean was seeing the same movie. He was walking in just ahead of her. She tried not to look. Once we were in, Abby picked out their seats then called out to Sean, "Hey blondie, come and sit with us?" She grinned. He looked at her with a stunned looked. "What are you doing? We don't know him." She hissed, hoping to avoid more awkwardness. Abby laughed, "Yes you do. He was at our house the other night and I saw you talking just before. Plus, he's hot and was alone. Get in there." She whispered with a giggle on the end. Oh god. Sean must have felt like she didn't want to be rude. So, he made his way over and took a seat on the opposite side of Ellie. Tenison between the two of them was sky high by now.

Ellie wasn't there with any guy. Just her sister. They stood in silence, until after getting the snacks. Sean was a little happy to leave them, but a little upset. He liked being with Ellie, but his feelings were still mixed. He sat in a chair waiting for the movie to start, and then someone yelled out in the theater. He turned his attention towards the direction of the sound, where he saw Ellie and her sister. They wanted him to come over to sit with them. He felt awkward, firstly because of everything that happened, but secondly because everyone in the theater was now staring at him. He slowly picked his stuff up and walked a few rows down to Ellie and his sister. He sat on the opposite side of Ellie. "You know my hair's not really blonde..." He said to her sister. He couldn't help but smile, trying to break the tension at least a little bit.

Ellie had decided if he was gonna be a jerk and be all mad at her, then so was she. Then, he made that comment towards Abby and she couldn't help but giggle a little to herself. The even funnier part, Abby didn't get what he meant. "What..? Yes you are.." She said. Ellie laughed, "I'll explain it to you later.". She seemed contempt with that. She went back to eating her popcorn and texting her boyfriend or something, waiting for the movie to start. Ellie turned to Sean and said, "I'm sorry that she called out to you. She doesn't know about the whole you not liking me part."

He laughed when she didn't understand what she meant. It was sort of obvious that his hair was dyed; the brown roots showed a lot. He turned his attention away from her when Ellie started talking. "It's cool." He started, and he took a deep breath. "I don't not like you." He admitted.

Ellie laughed a little, "Well you don't exactly like me either so.."

"I never said that..." He whispered, looking at the ground that by the end of the movie, would be covered in left over food.

"You didn't have to..". Ellie picked up her soda and brang it to her mouth, just as the lights were starting to dim. "You like him, don't you?" Abby whispered quietly into my her ear. "What.. what makes you think that?". "You're biting your straw.""So?". Abby grinned, "That's what you do when you're nervous around the guys you like. I used to see you do it around Jersey all the time.". Ellie removed the soda away from her mouth to see that Abby was right. She had been biting her straw. Crap. She'd forgotten that Abby knew about that nervous habit of hers. She put the soda back in the cup holder and looked at the screen as the previews became to play.

Sean opened his mouth to say something, but the lights in the theater dimmed so the movie could start. It would be obvious if he was talking. Most of the theater knew who he was because of Ellie's sister, plus his accent wasn't normally found around here. Every time he wanted to speak, another preview would come on, or he chickened out. He slid his phone out of his pocket, and typed a few words into a blank message.
I don't hate you...I never did...I don't think I could ever hate you.
He placed his phone on Ellie's lap, letting her read the message.

Ellie was sitting in her seat, quietly watching the previews when she felt Sean slip something into her lap. She looked down. His phone? What the?. She picked it up to see that there was a message on there. She dimmed the brightness down a bit, hoping he didn't mind, just so that it wouldn't cause any distractions for anyone.
"Then if you don't hate me, what was your big deal about what happened on friday?. Like, I get it, what I did was wrong. I got drunk and kissed a guy that's got a girlfriend but you like took it so personally and judged me so quickly.. Why?"
Ellie passed his phone back to him.

He grabbed his phone back, quickly reading the message.
"Well..."
Sean hesitated. Would this really be how he admitted his feelings for her? In a dark movie theater while passing his phone back and forth. He had no other choice. If he just said something stupid, Ellie wouldn't believe him.
"Ellie, first of all, I think kissing someone who's in a relationship is wrong. Second of all...it hurt me...because I thought we had something going on...I thought maybe there was that spark...or something."
He slipped the phone back to her, and sat still for a minute, waiting for her reaction. His stomach was twisting in knots, and he felt like throwing up. She probably thought he was such a joke.

"You're distracting me." Abby hissed as Sean passed the phone back to her. "Sorry." Ellie whispered, "Try and ignore it.". She looked down at the message, stunned at what he had said. This couldn't be possible..
"There's more to the story than just that kiss, Sean.. but no, you didn't even ask me about that, did you? You just get all crappy with me and judge me.
..I can feel that too y'know. Just because I kissed some other guy when I was drunk doesn't mean I don't feel something for you.. hah.."
Ellie was feeling sick to the stomach by the time she handed back to the phone to Sean.
