Ellie told Charlie about this beach party that happens every year in Kingswood. Apparently, it was a big deal. Charlie thought it couldn't hurt to go; Plus she wanted to get her mind off a lot. Charlie and Ellie showed up to see the beach completely packed. "Wow...you weren't kidding when you said this was a big deal." she told her best friend. Charlie noticed the stage and performers as well.. guess it was some kind of karaoke thing. Charlie walked through the crowd with Ellie, and stopped short once she saw Sam and Jordan. It was like they were sewn at the hip nowadays. "Uh lets go this way instead." she said to Ellie, and turned the opposite direction. "So, are Alex and Chris coming?" she asked. Right on cue, Alex came up to Ellie and kissed her. Charlie looked at her friend and smiled; They were so cute.

Watching from a distance, Chris noticed that when Alex walked over to the girls and kissed Ellie she backed away from it kind of. Something was definitely up with her and Chris knew that straight away. Did Alex?
"You girls singing?" Chris said approaching the group nodding his head towards the karaoke machine sitting on the stage. Beside it was a sign up sheet. "Well you are now. I just signed all three of us up." Chris grinned. Back in Florida, Chris had been the lead singer and guitarist in a band.

Charlie noticed Ellie acting a little strange when Alex came up, and she didn't understand why. She bit her lip, and looked to the person who came to the group. Then it sort of clicked. Maybe that's why she's distant...she likes Chris. She thought to herself. Charlie shook her head slightly, when Chris asked if they were singing, and was shocked when he had already signed them up. "Wait- What?" she said, feeling absolutely terrified and sick to her stomach. "You mean, you, Ellie and Alex...right?" she said looking up at the stage. No way, was she going to do this.

He shook his head. "I signed all of us up. You, me, Ellie, Alex, Jordan, Victoria.". The grin across his face was sheepish but he could tell that Charlie was freaking out about it. "Look, if it's that important, you don't have to go up. Just seems like you could use the push that's all.". Ellie had told Chris all about what a good singer Charlie was and how it was her nerves that got into the way between herself and what could be a successful career in the business.

Ellie instantly felt bad when she semi backed away from Alex's kiss. She hadn't meant it to be a rejection of any kind, things were just.. difficult and complicated. She couldn't tell him yet. She couldn't tell anyone what was going on. When Chris approached them, he'd touched her back and even that she flinched away from. Charlie seemed to notice her weird behaviour and Ellie avoided eye contact. She just hoped Charlie would assume a reason in her head without Ellie asking herself. Charlie was someone she didn't want to have to lie to. She knew though whatever Charlie assumed would be wrong. None of them knew what was happening and they couldn't ever know. They'd be in danger. Chris began speaking about how he'd signed everyone up to sing and Ellie's phone buzzed. She read the text and then began to walk away, wanting needing to be alone. Of course Alex followed and she felt horrible as she spoke the words, "Look, I just want to be alone right now." She looked over at the stage, "It's my turn to go up now so we'll just talk.. later, okay?". Then she headed towards the stage, heart aching. His facial expression had been so soft and hurt. If only he knew she was doing it for him.
"I'll be singing Gravity by Sara Bareilles." (Not very beach bash-y but oh well!) Ellie spoke into the microphone, sitting down at the piano they had set up on the stage. Her fingers began to stroke the keys as she sang along. The whole song she felt sick. She knew he was watching her. By him, she didn't mean Alex or Chris or Sean she meant.. her stalker. Her reason for brushing off Alex. Her reason for flinching at someone's touch.

Charlie knew that Chris was only trying to help, but she didn't know if she could do it. "Okay...I guess I could just try.." she said to Chris, not entirely confident that she could pull this off.
(Alex) (Ooooooooooh ) Alex didn't understand why Ellie was pushing him away. He didn't want that, and he was wondering what he might have done to make her do that. When Ellie sang, Alex didn't know what to think. The song was so, sad and so angry. He didn't know what he did. Ellie came off the stage, and alex approached her. "That was amazing. I didn't even know you could play." He told her trying to make small talk. Why was she acting so strange?

Charlie and Chris followed Alex and heard him give her a compliment which she totally brushed off with a nod of head followed by silence. Her eyes kept flickering around the place and her phone buzzed and she completely froze. "You alright?" Chris asked her. Once again, she nodded. Something was definitely up. He exchanged glances with Charlie and Alex who seemed to be thinking the same thing just as Charlie's name got called out to go on stage.

Charlie noticed something weird was going on with her friend, and she wanted to help. But her name was called before she could say anything. As soon as her name rung in her ears, she felt like she was going to pass out. Her palms sweaty, stomach sick and heart beating extremely fast. She walked up and stood in front of the mic, thinking of what to sing. "Uhm...hi." she spoke into the mic, her voice quivering a bit. "This is I Knew You Were Trouble...by Taylor Swift." she said and the song started playing. At first she was nervous, and her voice was shaking...but during the chorus, she kind of let loose a bit.
I knew you were trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Took me places I'd never been..til you put me down, oh I knew you were trouble when you walked in, so shame on me now. Took me to places I'd never been..and now I'm lying on the cold hard ground. She eyed Jordan for a second then belted that note. For once, Charlie wasn't that nervous. The song finished and she came off stage. It was a total rush.

"I knew you could do it!" Chris said encouraging Charlie as she walked off the stage. "You were fantastic.". That was the truth. She was really really good. Why was she always so shy about singing in front of people when she's that good?

Charlie couldn't help but smile. She had actually just taken the stage without throwing up, or running off in panic. Charlie smiled again at Chris' comment. "Thank you!" she told him. Especially since all those bottled up emotions towards Jordan were now out there. In front of him. AND everyone else. "That felt, really good." she told him. "Thanks for making me do that.." she said. And she was serious. At first she hated him for it, but he actually brought her out of her shell.

He grinned, feeling triumphant. "You just needed a little push that's all.". In between Charlie's performance Ellie had wandered over and this time Alex hadn't followed knowing Ellie didn't want him to. "Is there, uh, trouble in paradise?" Chris whispered to Charlie nodding his head towards Alex.

"I guess so.." she bit her lip and smiled, still stunned that she just did that. Then Chris brought up Ellie again. "I was going to ask you that." she told him. "Are you guys..I mean." "Do you guys like each other?" she asked, rambling trying to find the right words to say. She figured this might be the reason Ellie was distant. Cause she was confused.

Chris was in shock when Charlie guessed that Ellie and himself were into each other. "What? No way. We're just really really close but not like that.". Well, that's the way that Chris thought it was. It wasn't possible that Ellie felt more for him.. was it?. "You really think she likes me?" He asked her, surprised.

"Well, that's just the only thing that I could think of. Cause yesterday, Alex and Ellie were perfectly fine.." she bit her lip, now feeling kind of bad for blaming him. "Why? Do you like her?" she asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders. He'd never really thought about her like that. He then shook his head. "Nah, I don't. She's just a friend." "I wouldn't want to get in between her and Alex.."
