Zan dripped his basketball and shot it through the hoop. Keiko walked under it and it hit him. He was ok, but Zan ordered him back to the sidelines and told him to stay. He then went back to the court and continued his game.
Another person walked up to the court, with a ball. Zan hoped that this person would be willing to share the basketball court and wouldn't order him off, like some people had in the past.

Walking on to the basketball court - his second home - Jordan came to a halt as he saw another guy already on there with a dog - his dog? - on the sidelines. He hadn't expected it but he continued on. "Hey." Jordan said to the unfamiliar boy as he walked past him. Up close, Jordan had realised that he'd seen this guy walking around school before but had never spoken to him before. "You're pretty good y'know." Jordan told him with a smile on his face.

"Thanks" Zan replied. He was glad that this guy seemed friendly, but he wondered if he meant the comment, or was just saying it. He probably hadn't seen him long enough to really know. Zan had beaten his dad a few times and sometimes was on the winning team when he played with friends (back when he had friends), so he figured that he was about average.
Zan realized that he had seen this guy before. They went to the same school. He was one of those guys who seemed to have a lot of friends, so Zan would never expect him to talk to him.

Jordan took a seat on the bench that was along side the courts, watching Zan play. He could feel the fur brushing up against his legs as the dog was swirling around Jordan's feet. He didn't mind it. It made him realise how much he missed having a dog. His eyes went back up to Zan and he yelled out, "The schools having try outs soon. You gonna go for it?". Zan actually was really good and Jordan meant. It wasn't often that Jordan gave out compliments. Especially to people he didn't know.

Zan continued messing around with the ball, but when Jorden called out to him, he stopped. "Do you think I should?" he asked in surprise. He had never played on a real basketball team before, just in the park with friends. He had never played with more than eight people with four on a team. He hadn’t even touched a ball until he was at least nine and a half. Maybe this dude was joking. He looked serious but Zan had difficulty telling emotions sometimes.
