It was Jake's first day of school, ever, and basketball tryouts were after school. He definitely wanted to tryout. He walked in the gymnasium, surprised he even found it. He found a table and a couple of guys sitting there. One was tan, muscular, and kind of tall, he was sitting in the middle so he must have been the captain. There were two others on each side of him, he's not sure who they are.
He did his tryout, and he feels like he did pretty well. He made all of the baskets, and had pretty good a pretty good form. He thanked them, and sat on the bleachers waiting for the others to go so they can announce who made the team. He's not too nervous, although he really wants to be on the team, because he's been playing basketball almost his whole life.

It was the start of the new basketball season. New season, meant new players. Today was the day of the try outs. Jordan, the coach and a few of his fellow team mates sat in, watching as ten guys each go up and show off their stuff. Out of the ten, only four would make the team. A lot of them were quite average but had potential. Although there was one guy - Jake Aldean - who was the star of the group. He had a confidence when he took his shoots which really made him stand out and you could see he had experience.
After about fifteen minutes of deliberation, the coach got up and announced the four players that would be joining the Portman High basketball team. "Jeremy Scott, Chris Vid, Taylor Roland and Jake Aldean.. welcome to the team.". Chatter filled the gym as the boys who had made it hugged each other excitedly while those who just missed the cut began to walk solemnly out of the gym with there heads down. "There's always next season guys. Thanks for coming by." Jordan said as he shook the hands of everyone who had tried out but hadn't made it. Once they had all left, all that remained was the new team. The coach gave them a run down of who we all were and told them that practice started next Friday afternoon then they were free to leave.
Jordan ran up to Jake before he could leave, "Hey, you've got game man!" Jordan grinned. "You been playing a long time?"

I was shocked when they announced my name, but really excited to start playing. When the coach was done speaking, everyone got up to leave. As I was walking out, I heard someone talking next to me. I turned around to see the captain of the team talking to me. I laughed a little when he complimented me. "Thanks man! I've been playing ever since I could hold a ball. My dad taught me." He said. "You're the captain, right? I'm sure you're pretty good too! How long have you been playing?" He asked.

"Yeah yeah, me too. I've been playing all my life." Jordan grinned proudly. He looked back at guys who were waiting impatiently for Jordan. "Hey, me and some of the guys were about to go out and get a pizza. Wanna join?". Jake seemed like a pretty chill guy. He'd fit in with the group nicely.
