On the first day of school, Charlie passed by the music area a few times. In fact, it was down the hall from her locker. She noticed that besides the music classes, it was mainly deserted. She had free period, and she figured that would be a good place to write. and after everything that happened at the carnival, she had a lot to write about.
The first line that came to her was Don't you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine.
Charlie kept writing..
Elevator buttons and morning air Strangers' silence makes me want to take the stairs If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares But right now my time is theirs
Seems like there's always someone who disapproves They'll judge it like they know about me and you And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do The jury's out, my choice is you
So don't you worry your pretty little mind People throw rocks at things that shine And life makes love look hard The stakes are high, the water's rough But this love is ours
You never know what people have up their sleeves Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles But I don't care 'cause right now you're mine
And you'll say Don't you worry your pretty little mind People throw rocks at things that shine And life makes love look hard The stakes are high, the water's rough But this love is ours
The bell rang to go to lunch, but Charlie had to finish her song first. She was that kind of writer. She never left a song unfinished. She walked to her locker and then to the cafeteria where she saw herself DISPLAYED on the televisions in the cafeteria (normally used for morning announcements.) It was Charlie singing her song..about Jordan. They didn't even figure out where they were yet, and there she was, singing about it. Charlie stood in the doorway watching this, and instantly knew this was Tiffany. Tiffany stood up in front of the student body "Aw, Charlie where you going?" How did she know about Charlie's stage fright? She walked up to Charlie. "Wouldn't you much rather stay hear and talk about how you're oh so in love with Jordan?!" She put her arms around Charlie, as if she was giving her a hug, then continued to tease Charlie. Charlie ran away as fast as she could, bawling as she went. "Aw, poor baby." Tiffany said in her usual snarky tone, and sad down with her friends. Meanwhile, Charlie was sitting outside, crying. Maybe it was stupid, or lame, but she didn't care. She was ridiculously shy when it came to singing.

Jordan was roaming around the halls during his Maths lesson. He didn't really want to be there. Finally, it was lunch and Jordan went back to grab his things, throwing them into his locker then heading towards the cafeteria. As he walked in, he could see Charlie on the screen with Tiffany standing in front of the student body humiliating Charlie. e frowned and listened to what she was saying. "Wouldn't you much rather stay hear and talk about how you're oh so in love with Jordan?!". Jordan was lost for words. Did she actually like him?. Charlie ran out of the cafeteria crying and Jordan followed her, not even looking at Tiffany. He followed her outside and sat down beside her, not saying anything.

Charlie was sitting against the side of the wall, wiping her eyes to keep from crying. Someone sat beside her. She thought it might be Ellie, or Sienna..nope, it was Jordan. As if she wasn't humiliated enough. He sat beside her, and stayed silent. "I'm..so sorry." She said and wiped her eyes. "I can't believe Tiffany did that.." she sighed. She didn't really know what to say to him. "And she embarrassed you too..ugh." She groaned, and waited for him to respond.

He looked over at her, listening to her speak. Jordan ignored what she said about embarrassing him. Instead he said, "You're an amazing singer.". You could see the surprise on her face. Charlie hadn't expected him to say that. Then he did something he'd been wanting to do since the moment he met her. He leaned in, and he kissed her.

She was surprised when he said she was an amazing singer. She bit her lip, and was about to respond. Charlie's cheeks went red once he kissed her. It was better than she even imagined. She kissed him back and smiled. I guess Ellie was right, she was oblivious to him liking her. "That song was for you.." She told him, which was a pretty gutsy move for her.

"I hoped so.." He said, with a smile on his face. "Otherwise kissing you would have been a pretty awkward move on my behalf.".

Charlie laughed a little, realizing what she said was a little stupid. "Why didn't you say anything?" She asked him. I mean, she was just as secretive as he was, but she figured he'd say something.

He shrugged a little, not really knowing why he hadn't said anything. He just didn't want to first.. "Why didn't you?"

He shot the question right back at her, which she wasn't really expecting. "Honestly..?" she bit her lip. "I didn't think that you would like me.." She explained. "I'm not exactly popular, or noticed around here." She told him. She didn't really know what else to say. And she didn't want to mention that Tiffany sort of prevented it, either.

He couldn't help but smile slightly. "I though it might have been because of Tiffany.." Jordan stated. "But look, popularity and all of that crap isn't important to me when it comes to how you feel about a girl and hey, you're beautiful. Of course you're noticed."

Charlie smiled. "Well, I'm glad popularity isn't important to you." She told him. "You know, you're a lot sweeter than you think you are." He had a bad reputation around here, but Charlie didn't see why.

He shrugged his shoulders and a bit with a slight smile on this face. "Well thanks. But I'm sure many of the population around here would disagree."

That made Charlie kind of sad. They didn't see what a great guy he was. She looked at him, "But why?" she asked. "Do they really have a reason to think that?" she asked him. It seemed unfair, but that's high school.

"They don't really have to. We're teenagers. Nothing is fair." Jordan said, letting out a sigh on the end. "They just assume because I've had some.. fun with girls in the past that I'm a bad guy.". It didn't really phase him much anymore but if something were to happen between Charlie and himself, the reputation would follow her.

Jordan's past did bother Charlie, but she wasn't going to judge him because of it. "But isn't that the past?" she asked. "That's dumb. They're just being judgmental.." she told him, and grabbed his hand. "But it's their loss." she smiled.
