On the first day of school, Charlie passed by the music area a few times. In fact, it was down the hall from her locker. She noticed that besides the music classes, it was mainly deserted. She had free period, and she figured that would be a good place to write. and after everything that happened at the carnival, she had a lot to write about.
The first line that came to her was Don't you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine.
Charlie kept writing..
Elevator buttons and morning air
Strangers' silence makes me want to take the stairs
If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares
But right now my time is theirs
Seems like there's always someone who disapproves
They'll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out, my choice is you
So don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours
You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles
But I don't care 'cause right now you're mine
And you'll say
Don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours
The bell rang to go to lunch, but Charlie had to finish her song first. She was that kind of writer. She never left a song unfinished. She walked to her locker and then to the cafeteria where she saw herself DISPLAYED on the televisions in the cafeteria (normally used for morning announcements.) It was Charlie singing her song..about Jordan. They didn't even figure out where they were yet, and there she was, singing about it. Charlie stood in the doorway watching this, and instantly knew this was Tiffany. Tiffany stood up in front of the student body "Aw, Charlie where you going?" How did she know about Charlie's stage fright? She walked up to Charlie. "Wouldn't you much rather stay hear and talk about how you're oh so in love with Jordan?!" She put her arms around Charlie, as if she was giving her a hug, then continued to tease Charlie. Charlie ran away as fast as she could, bawling as she went. "Aw, poor baby." Tiffany said in her usual snarky tone, and sad down with her friends.
Meanwhile, Charlie was sitting outside, crying. Maybe it was stupid, or lame, but she didn't care. She was ridiculously shy when it came to singing.
