"Excuse me, I'm british too! Am I posh? No! So hush." She said going off of his last joke. The awkwardness between the two of them seem to began to widen. This wasn't right. Something was different from last time. Was it that we both had relationships? ..Well, one of us did. Ugh. This didn't make any sense to Ellie. Jersey is like the nicest guy in the world who deserves the best, and Justine's mean and horrible and selfish. She doesn't care who she hurts in order to get what she wants. He shouldn't be with her. Ellie's train of thought got interrupted when he began asking serious questions about Liam. "There is no Liam." She blurted out. Shit. She'd said it. There was no way to take it back. Why?!

"But your teenage years were dominated by American Culture, and we all know that we are far from posh." He nodded in a rather odd way, just the awkwardness intensified. He twisted his hands uncomfortably in his pockets, trying to think of something to say to fill an awkward silence that prevailed in the air. It was just... strange. It wasn't supposed to be this way. They were supposed to be best friends. No awkwardness whatsoever. But no, there was awkwardness, and it was there, hanging in the air like some type of obsessive compulsive ghost that needed to be there at all times. "There is no Liam." The words broke the silence and Jersey nodded. "Uhm, okay then. Lies." They were best friends. They weren't supposed to be lying to each other...

Oh, now he was judging her?. "Like you can talk, keeping your girlfriend a secret? We talked like every day on the phone when I was in England. Not once was Justine mentioned! Best friends are supposed to tell each other everything. Especially when it comes to feelings.. if you have feelings for someone, you should make them known. Not hide them". She bit her lip. She may have gotten a bit of subject there, heading towards the obvious chemistry that the two of them held. She was hoping he wouldn't pick up on that. "But y'know what, fine. Go have fun with Justine". She turned her back, and began to walk away.

Well, he felt horrible now. Which made Jersey cringe. Never before had they fought like this. Sure, there was a squabble in their freshman year about whether they should of gone to McDonalds or Starbucks for coffee, and another time back in middle school when they'd fought over something that hadn't happened. But never had a retaliation happen like this before. Secrets don't make friends. You could say that that was the motto to live by. And it was a song too... But whatever. Jersey was upset, and he ran after Ellie. After she said something about Justine. "Well, secrets don't make friends.. I didn't want to tell you about Justine and I didn't because... Uhm... I-I've had a crush on you sin-since like... 7th grade. And it's really pathetic because we're best friends and all that, and really cliche, but it's there. And I was hoping that she'd go away over your time gone..."

Ellie stood there in shock as Jersey confessed all his feelings to her. This was something that he had imagined since they like, met and never once didn't it occur like this. She looked to the ground, and picked up his mail and hit him over the head with it. "Well, why did you wait to tell me until after you had a girlfriend?! Because I've felt the same way over all these years but you choose NOW to tell me?! The one time, when we can't do anything about it."

Jersey took that in for a second. The whole thing was just weird. To have it out there in the open, not some lurking thing like the lochness monsters existence and all that. It was out there and it changed the awkwardness a little to a more... different kind of awkward. The more anxious kind of awkward opposed to "I don't know..." Awkward. It was weird to explain, but it was definitley a different feeling after saying it. Less suffocating, more like a new flame opposed to somethiing that was rubber and plastic. Did that make any sense? It probably didn't to anybody but Jersey, but it made sense to him. Well, why did you wait to tell me until after you had a girlfriend?! Because I've felt the same way over all these years but you choose NOW to tell me?! The one time, when we can't do anything about it. Which made Jersey cringe. He sighed and looked at his shoes "Well, think about it, Ellie. You're you. You're a sweetheart, you're beautiful, and you know how to make people feel like they're liked. And I'm... Jersey Reydner. The failure of the family. And the fact that I didn't know if you returned the feelings...."

Ellie began to shake her head as soon as he said "And I'm... Jersey Reydner. The failure of the family... "You are not a failure in anyone's eyes. Especially mine.". She placed both of her hands on either side of his face, "You're amazing.". This felt right. Being together.. in this way. She sighed and moved her hands back when reality set it. He had a girlfriend and she didn't want to be that girl that interfered into relationships for their own selfish gain.

"You are not a failure in anyone's eyes. Especially mine." Which made Jersey kind of wonder what in the world she meant. He kind of was a small failure compared to the rest of his family and it was just like "Oh, you mean, Jersey? The one who'll probably end up... Normal?" It was one of those things that a lot of people were under the impression would happen. Sure, Ohio had became a doctor, and that was kind of normal, but Ohio also had gotten top of his class at Stanford... Yeah, the whole thing was really weird and made him awkward to think about but he just fidgeted thinking about how he would be considered normal by the rest of his family and... He shrugged to himself and sighed. And then her hands were on his face. Perfectly... And then they were released.... And then he just sucked it up and did what he'd been wanting to do since he was a thirteen year old. He kissed her.

He kissed her. Butterflies filled her stomach. She couldn't believe this was actually happening. It was real. Everything at that moment seemed so perfect. She knew it was a cliche but it really was like nothing in that moment mattered.. besides the pair. Their perfect moment together was interrupted by hearing a familiar voice just further down the street. Ellie broke the kiss and backed away, just in time. Justine walked up the drive way, unknown to what had just been going on, she took her place and kissed her boyfriend. Ellie's throat felt like it had closed up. He was hers.. "I'm back, sweetie. Now come, we're going out tonight. We're gonna get me drunk and then, feel free to what ever you want with me." She said with a wink at the end. Ellie felt as if she may throw up.

Of course. As much as Justine was an interesting person, she was also pretty bad with her timing. Which was why Jersey was instantly just irritated with her. Why. Why did he dig himself into this hole and now he couldn't see outside of it. Why. And the thing was, Justine wasn't a bad person... Just dysfunctional and really bitter sometimes. Which was why when she came up on the steps once again, Jersey gritted his teeth and smiled at her. "Hey, Sweetheart...." He trailed off. Only to be interrupted, not ran into different sentences like he and Ellie would do. These sentences were just.... bulky and filled to the brim with awkwardness. "I'm back, sweetie. Now come, we're going out tonight. We're gonna get me drunk and then, feel free to what ever you want with me." Which was promptly punctuated by a wink. "....Monopoly? We could play Manopoly..." Jersey nodded. Yep. Board games. Board games while drunk. Fun. "But, actually, Justine... I have plans already. Tomorrow, okay?

Jersey didn't decline Justine's offer.. completely just set it off for another date. "But come on, I wanna go tonight, please?" She said, completed with a puppy dog face. Hey. That was Ellie's move that she used against Jersey. She continued to shake her head and she watched her cling onto Jersey. Why, oh why did she get to have him first. This isn't fair. Ellie waited years, she got him straight away!. Ellie stood to the side awkwardly while Justine basically.. dry humped Jersey. That made her wonder, had they.. you know..

"But come on, I wanna go tonight, please?" Jersey clenched his teeth and looked at Justine. What was wrong with her, even. Was she insane? A Nympho? Jersey sighed and reluctantly sighed "Tomorrow, okay? My best friend just got back in town and I wanted to go to a movie or something with her." Jersey nodded and sighed, looking at Justine. Well, wasn't this the most awkward thing. Why was Justine acting like this? Usually she was indifferent. He just sighed and closed his eyes before smiling. "We'll do something together tomorrow, Justine. I promise. Okay? Just give me a few hours with my best friend?" He nodded at her and then looked at Ellie "Does a movie sound okay? Or do you just want to stay here?"

Justine still had her eyes completely focused on Jersey, not looking like she was eager to let go any time soon. Ellie wondered as she always like this, or was she just doing this little show for her?. "Yeah, a movie sounds go-". Ellie came to an abrupt stop when Justine began to kiss Jersey's neck. This was too much. "You know what, I'll be back for a while. We can do this any time. You have a good night.". She pulled up the hood of her jacket, shoved her hands in her pockets and began walking in the direction towards her house.
