It was a Friday morning, and Sammie had math class first. Through she was a bit tired, she was glad her first class was math; she was good at it and actually liked it. She entered the classroom and took a sit at the back of the room, near the windows. There were still a few minutes before class started, so Sammie looked out the window and started to daydream. She daydreamed about what she wanted to do after school was over for the day. She closed her eyes.

Friday morning Math, ugh. Nothing worse. It was James' worse subject, he didn't understand a bit of it and no matter how many times the teacher tried to explain it to him in different way, he didn't get it. James wasn't a dumb student.. only when it came to math.
James sat down in an empty seat with a sigh. He put his textbook and notebook on the desk and began tapping his pencil against the books. He just wanted class to start and be over with.

Sammie was thinking about going to the mall after school when she heard something tapping on a table. She opened her eyes and looked around. While she had had her eyes closed, a guy had entered the classroom. Sammie smiled at him. "Hi," she said. Sammie was a friendly and outgoing girl and if there was a chance to make a new friend, she would take it.

James turned to see another girl in his class speaking to him. "Hey." He smiled. "I'm James."

"Sammantha," Sammie said. "But everyone calls me Sammie." She held out her hand.

"Nice to meet you." He said, extending his hand also.

Sammie shook James' hand. "Nice to meet you too," she said. She looked over the clock. There were still a couple of minutes before the class begun. The teacher had entered the class room. Sammie turned back to James. "Do you like math?" she asked.

He laughed, "Not really. When it comes to maths.. its a challenge for me." He said, "What about you?"

"Love it," Sammie answered. "It's one of the few classes I do good in." It wasn't that Sammie was dumb, more that she would usually whisper to other people through out the class. Why didn't she talk during math? Math interested her for some reason. "Is there any classes you do like?" she asked James.

It surprised James when Sammie said she liked Maths. Before her, he hadn't know a single person that liked maths.. let alone loved it. He chuckled slightly. "I gotta admit, I'm a bit of a history buff at heart."

"History, huh," Sammie said. She wasn't really one for history. It was okay, and she understood some stuff, but overall it was kinda confusing for her. "Not one of my better subjects," Sammie laughed, shrugging. "What do you like about history the most?"

"I just find it fascinating to learn about what made the present. Like, how times have changed so much. It's just so cool!"

"Hmm," Sammie said, nodding her head. She was about it say something else when the bell rang. She frowned, not wanting to stop talking. She looked up at the front of the class. The teacher looked ready to start his lesson. Sammie shrugged and figured she could figure out the lesson later. She turned back to James. "Do you have a favourite history period?" she asked quietly.

"Medieval times." He smiled. He thought it was really nice of her to take so much interest in his love for history. "What about you? What type of maths do you like? Or is it just general, like, anything maths related?"

Sammie thought about the question for a second. "All kinds," she answered. She looked to the front of the class to make sure the teacher wasn't paying any attention to them. He wasn't. Sammie turned back to James. "What's your favourite thing about Medieval times...or do you have one?"
