Keela didn't have to work today, and the sun was out and shining brightly, so she decided to bring her one year old daughter, Julia, to the beach. She put pants and a shirt over her swimsuit, then dressed Julia in a pink dress. Keela got out the bag she brought with her everywhere; it was filled with everything she and Julia would need; diapers, bottles, a change of clothes. Once everything was ready, she picked up Julia and left her apartment.
Later, once they were at the beach, Keela took of her pants and shirt to reveal a one piece, black swimsuit. She stuffed her clothes in her bag, then took off Julia's dress. Julia was wearing a one piece, pink swimsuit. Stuffing Julia's dress in the bag, Keela walked to the water, leaving the bag as close to the water as she dared.
Keela walked into the water until it was to Julia's knees, then sat down and started to splash some water at Julia. The little girl giggled in delight. Keela smiled at seeing her daughter so happy.

Tripp had a maddening headache due to the escapade from the night before. His rituals in self-medication was easy to perform. Pot. For Tripp, it seemed already so early in the morning. Although, it had quickly become afternoon. He settled himself against a thick log pushed back near the brush. With a perfect view of the bright beach ahead of him. He remained at ease as he noticed nobody meandering upon the beach, even so he wouldn't mind smoking his joint in front of them.
He lit it briefly, taking several puffs to inhale the deliciously sultry smoke. He rolled his head back exhaling. The breeze became familiar against his face, and his head ache withered away within seconds. He continued to lightly puff on the harsh marijuana joint. Eyes briefly analyzing the rolling foaming waves. He watched two figures appear. His thought process paused momentarily as it took a few minutes for it to set in that there was a child around. He exhaled the last puff. Deciding (in good mannerisms) to put out the half smoked joint and save it for another time. As the two neared he smiled and waved.

Keela tensed when she realized there was another person on the beach. She had hoped the beach would be empty, or near empty, and hoped no one would pay any attention to her. She wasn't good with other people since...No, she didn't want to think about that.
She wondered for a moment if she should wave back at the male. She decided not to. She turned her attention back to Julia. Julia was looking in the water, looking at a shiny, black rock. Keela pulled the rock out of the water and handed it to Julia.
Julia sat down and stuied the rock. Keela smiled again; her daughter could always made her smile, no matter what.

Tripp took a mental note of the woman's rejecting of a wave. He frowned, he often didn't like that. He often would just sit there and brushed it off. However, he had to get so in depth in his thoughts of why she wouldn't wave back. He always was pondering something sometime or another. He stood, pushing his mop of brown hair back into a pony tail. Well he'd greet her, it was a good way to meet new people.
As he wandered up, he was smiling the entire way. He often thought it was a sign of revealing he was a friendly individual. Most people judged him on his long hair rather than his personality. "Hey. How's it goin' ma'am?" His southern drawl was heavy against his words. He remained a few steps away from the woman sensing a bit of tension. "I hope ya don' mind me talkin' to ya. I thought I should introduce myself. My name's Tripp er-Lynnard. But I prefer Tripp."
He chuckled briefly glancing down at the child. His broad smile turned into a half-smile. As he felt the akwardness seep into his bones. He hoped he wasn't making a complete fool out of himself by being friendly.

Keela was paying so close to Julia that when she heard a voice, she jumped. She looked up as a voice spoke. There was no getting out of talking to him now. She stood up. "Keela," she said after Tripp introduced himself. She pointed to Julia, who had thrown the rock back in the water and was looking for another one. "And this is Julia."
Keela stood there, wondering what to say or do. She keep on eye on Tripp and another on Julia. She was nervous, but she hoped it didn't show.

It was apparent that Keela was somewhat shy. He didn't mind. He befriended many shy people, and after awhile they became comfortable. It was all about talking to people if you have known them for years. He sat down on the soft ivory sand. Smiling at Keela as she introduced herself then then Julia. "Very pretty names. Unique I'd say."
He watched Julia momentarily as she played with a rock, but continued looking up at Keela. "How old is Julia? Ya guys just move here. Man, I moved here about a year ago. Still takes some gettin' used to."
Tripp was quite the talker. He knew that he could talk hours on end without pausing for a breath. He grinned, feeling the soft breeze push a stray lock of hair from his face. Tripp began to notice a slight tension in Keela. He struggled to keep the conversation at ease. "Anywho, I live just a couple blocks from here. I oughta say its much different than Texas. People are very nice folks." He smiled and looked away.

Keela smiled at the compliment. She had always loved her name. "Thank you," she said. "Your name is pretty different, too." She looked down at Julia. "Just a little over a year," she answered, looking back at Tripp. Keela shook her head. "No, we've been here since shortly after Julia was born." Keela sat back down. "So, you're from Texas? What's it like there? I mean, other then the nice people."

"It ain't my real name. My real name is Lynnard. I hated it since I was a kid. So when I was a youngin' thirteen or so I decided to go by Tripp, cause I thought it was cool. I guess it just stuck." He laughed and nodded, noticing a change in the atmosphere as she began to ease into the conversation. He enjoyed making people comfortable when they were talking to him. Even if it was the most off-the wall conversation, or random. It was interesting to meet the wide variety of individuals in this town. It wasn't like anything he was used to. "Well I oughta say Julia-darlin's quite the doll." He motioned towards Keela's daughter. It was easy adding the compliments as their conversation flew by.
"I'd say it's a lot different than here. Dry, unbearably hot, lots of desert-land to adventure around in. Shoot, the people can be very proud of their name, ya know? Too ignorant. But then again lots of good, traditional folks. Lot's of ranching, I'd say." He glanced at her and smiled. He looked quickly away towards the ocean. Examining the ivory foaming waves. "Where ya from? If ya don't mind me askin'."

Keela nodded to let Tripp know she was listening. "Ah. So how did you come up with the nickname Tripp?" she asked. She tensed for a second when Tripp talked about Julia. Keela was protected of her daughter. She took a deep breath and let it go. Everything was fine; she was safe, Julia was safe. There was no, good, reason to panic. She took her attention back to Tripp when he started to talk about Texas. She nodded again. While Texas sound good, it wasn't a place she would like to go. She didn't like dry, hot places. "I'm from Canada," Keela answered when Tripp asked where she was from.

He contemplated how to tell her that at a young age he got the name from doing peyote. Although, there were many reasons as to he got that name his friends at the time thought it was profound as to him tripping. He looked at her momentarily with his mouth gaping in a large almost unsure smile. Maybe she wasn't the type to understand. "Well ya know...trippin'. At way too young of a age. Oh and 'cause I liked all that psychedelic rock." He chuckled and brushed his fore-head with the back of his hand.
He looked up at her response to being from Canada. "Man, ya sure are a long way from there. Ain't it chilly up there? He pried unsure. Not knowing much about the country

Keela blinked, cocking her head to the side. She wasn't exactly sure what Tripp meant, but for the moment, she decided to let it go. When Tripp asked if Canada was chilly, she burst out laughing. "It depends on where you are and what season it is," she answered with a huge smile on her face. She remembered her hometown. When it was summer, and she was a lot younger, she would go to the pool with her friends. She remember those times greatly. Once in a while, she wished she could go back to those times when her parents were still alive. But she learned a long time ago that you couldn't change the past. She brought herself back to the persent and looked at Tripp. "Have you ever been to Canada?"
