"It's..." His voice trailed off. It wasn't okay. It would never be okay. Nothing could make it okay, so why should he say that it was? He paused, as the ocean filled both of their thoughts. "Um," He could feel his hands shaking, and this was the first time in awhile that he talked about it. "She actually had a brain tumor." He whispered. "We thought after five years it was gone...and she was cancer free...but we were wrong." He looked around, avoiding Ellie's eyes.

His sister had a brain tumour.. How could you possibly respond to that?. Ellie noticed that Sean's hands were now. She place one hand on top of his trying to somehow, awkwardly comfort him. His hands felt like ice. "Come on, lets get you get you out of the water. You're freezing up.". With the hand she had slightly been touching, she gently walked Sean back onto the sand. It was obvious this was something that he didn't like to talk to. Ellie regretted ever asking or mentioning anything. Maybe some things are better left private.

"Sounds like a good idea." He said almost like a robot. It always was a sensitive subject, and no one in his family ever liked to talk about it. When Ellie touched his hand, he instantly felt a little better. He slowly left the water with Ellie, and they sat on the warm sand. "Sorry..." He ran his hand through his hair a few times, and shook the water out. He hated getting all tense in front of other people, and leaving them in awkward situations.

"You've got no reason to be sorry, Sean." Ellie said as she ran grains of sand through her hand. "It's obviously a sensitive subject and I honestly shouldn't have poked at it like that. I'm sorry.". She looked up at him and half smiled, "Will you forgive me?"

"No, no, it's fine." He quickly pushed the topic out of his mind, and copied Ellie with the sand. "Completely forgiven." He smiled a little bit.

Ellie reached over to her towel that she had just thrown down to the side. She wrapped it around herself as she began to shiver. Secretly, she had once again become very aware of how she was in a bikini in front of him. "Have you met many people in town so far?" Ellie asked, wanting to make conversation to fill the awkward silence that hovered in the air.

Sean reached across the sand for his shirt, and it sort of defeated its purpose once it clung to his wet torso. He tried keeping it dry, but it was too cold outside to not have a shirt on. "Just you, so far." He smiled a little. "Is there anyone in town I should keep an eye out for?" He laughed a little.

"Well, I'm honoured." She grinned. When asked if there was any to look out for. She thought about it for a moment. "Well, there's this girl Tiffany from school and she is one of the meanest and most sluttiest girls I have met in my entire life. I would stay away from her. She'll make you love in with her and then just rip you apart."

"Eh, doesn't sound like the kind of girl I'd like." He scrunched his nose up. Most of his friends at home went for the slutty looking girls, who wore clothes ten sizes too small, and they always laughed at Sean for not wanting to even look at any of them. "Thanks for the warning." He laughed.

"It's funny, she's never anyone's type but I don't know I guess there's just something about her that draws guys in? It's strange." Ellie's eyes stayed on the sand, "I don't know how one girl can become so irresistible to a guy after meeting like once."

"She sounds..." Sean searched through his vocabulary for the right word to say. He couldn't say anything mean; he never met the girl. But the way Ellie talked about her made him already not really like her. "Interesting." He finally settled on a word, but he knew he had much meaner choices.

Ellie chuckled. "Yes, interesting indeed.". That was definitely a word that many people used to describe her.

"Have you ever built a sand castle?" Sean asked, the inner child in him coming out again. He laughed a little, stacking piles of sand on top of each other, more like in a mountain rather than a castle.

"I honestly can't say I have..". Her eyes went to what she was guessing was supposed to be a castle. "Um, that's a castle? It just looks like.. a mound.. of sand.". She just playfully teasing him. She couldn't help but let a huge laugh escape her lips.

"Stop!" He laughed, readjusting his position on the sand so it was easier to create a castle. "It's easier with the wet sand!" He struggled to stand up, and he walked down towards the water, where it was hitting the sand. "This is like hitting the lottery!" He laughed, filling up his arms with wet sand. He walked over to where Ellie was sitting, and he dumped it down on the ground. "Now just...mold it into a castle...and just...push that piece there..." He moved his hands around the piles of sand, quickly realizing that it wasn't working out.
