To say Charlie had not played music in some time, was a understatement. Over the summer, she could never put what she felt into words, when it usually just came naturally. After seeing Jordan at thanksgiving, she realized she needed to let go. move on. And her way of doing that was writing. She sat on the beach with her guitar in lap, pen in hand and wrote a new song.
good girls, hopeful they'll be and long they will wait. she sang and penned the lyrics.
We had, a beautiful, magic, love there. What a sad, beautiful, tragic love affair. She continued playing to figure out the rest of the song and she turned around mortified, to see (next poster) clearly listening behind her. Not only was she not comfortable singing for people, but singing about Jordan was a whole other issue.

Jordan awkwardly, clearly now caught listening by Charlie. His curiosity had made him listen on. He loved hearing her sing and it wasn't very often he had the chance to hear it especially not now. Now jealousy turned his stomach, who was she singing about? Had she found someone new? Had they hurt her? Or was it him? She looked back towards the ocean and Jordan wasn't sure if he should talk to her or just go. The conversation he'd had with her in that jail cell was constantly running through his mind. He'd been harsh.. but he'd also been very hurt. Internally, he cursed himself for doing it but he gave in and sat down beside her and wasn't sure exactly what to say. "It was nice.. your singing. You shouldn't hide it."

Charlie was surprised to see Jordan standing right behind her. She assumed he would have said hi, and ran off but instead he sat next to her. She closed her song book so he couldn't see the lyrics and turned to look at him. "oh..thanks." She half-smiled and bit her lip; something she did when she was nervous, which unfortunately Jordan knew. "What are you doing here?" She asked.

(Oops, this is Jordan)
It was weird to think, just a few months ago, Charlie was like his best friend... almost his girlfriend. She was one of the only ones he could really put down his walls with and now everything was so different and tense. "I needed to get out. I'm trying to stay calm with Vic as we go through the seperation so that she doesn't take away April. Meaning, if we get into a disagreement, she's right and I go for a walk so that we don't argue." He said, being way too open as he usually was with her. "What about you? Needed the calm to write?"

"What was the disagreement?" She asked. "Yeah. I haven't written in months, so I just had to clear my head." She confessed. She had to admit, she missed Jordan.

"With her, you never know. All you know is that she's right and you're wrong.". Getting mixed up with Vic was the worst decision Jordan had made.. but choosing her made April and she was his girl so he felt conflicted. "That's good that you're writing again. You're really talented.". He looked at her then his eyes went back to the ocean crashing against the rocks.

"Oh, i see." charlie nodded her head. Nothing felt right when they were talking. "I don't get it." she paused. "Why be with victoria, have a kid with her..get engaged and then break it off?" she asked. Charlie had to ask, and she was fed up with him saying he 'made a mistake.'

Again, like always, she was judging him for his bad decisions. "Look, clearly I didn't plan it out this way. It was supposed to just be a fling but then she got pregnant. I wasn't going to be an ass and just leave her so I did what I thought was right. I proposed to make us a family. But now, I just can't take it. I can't pretend to be happy with her anymore." He said. "When April grows up, I don't think she'd like the idea that she was the reason her dad stayed with her mom unhappy."

Charlie felt guilty as soon as those words escaped her mouth. She was just hurt. She listened to what he had to say. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. I just- never mind." she bit her lip. She knew he meant to do good, but it never turned out that way. "How have you been..?" she asked, and she knew he knew what she meant. After being arrested, then on house arrest, and so on.

He shook his head and sighed when she was apologising. "Don't worry about it.". Jordan looked from the ocean back to her. "It's been tough. People still shoot me looks all around town that I was out to murder my best friend. They charged the guy so I don't get it.. but y'know. Overall, I've been okay.. dealing with it." "How have you been?"

Charlie thought back to the night that he was arrested, and how awful the town must have been to him. "I'm sorry." she told him, sincerely. "They will get over it eventually. It was probably just a shock to them." she sighed, and thought about her summer. Talking about her grandparents always made her eyes watery, and she never wanted to, but for some reason she decided to today. "Well, my grandpa died of cancer, my grandma has alzheimer's and my parents' officially decided to split up." she let out, and looked down so he couldn't see her tearing. "All in the span of 3 months." she sighed.

When Charlie filled him in on what he'd missed he sat frozen in silence. In just three months so much had changed. His problems were so minute in comparison. "Charlie.. I'm so sorry..". He moved over to touch her hand.. just to comfort her but quickly moved it away as he knew that he shouldn't. "That's a really rough deal but you're strong so if anyone can get through it.. it's you."

She wiped her eyes and then looked up at him to fake a smile. "It's fine." She admitted. "I mean, it's nothing you can fix..no one really can." She said and eventually looked away from him. "Thanks." She said, sighing a bit. Part of her wanted to move on, and the other part wanted to go back to the way it was. "You should probably get back to Victoria. If she finds out you're talking to me..." She shook her head

He shrugged. "What's she gonna do? Try and take April away from me? Go to court and say "he was talking to his friend" ..if friend is even the right term for what we are."

She shrugged. "You never know with her." She told him. "She wanted you. She had you. And now she doesn't. You know her better than anyone." She explained. "Don't you think that will make her a little pissed that you're talking to me?" She asked. She wanted to tell him the deal she had with Victoria, and she knew Victoria would make Jordan's life hell if she knew.
